Dear Family and Friends,
May is typically a month of transition for many of our families as they finish up school and are preparing for summer. When school is out, many students struggle with hunger as they are no longer receiving school meals. 1.6 million children are food insecure in Texas. This means that every 1 in 6 families struggle.
You are at the forefront of living out Isaiah 58, actively being the hands and feet of Christ. As children transition from school, your work in food distribution, community support, and dignified outreach becomes even more crucial. You’re not just providing resources; you’re cultivating hope and stability when it’s most needed.
Your partnership is vital to sustaining our initiatives and reaching more needy families. Here are some ways your financial support makes a tangible difference:
- $10 provides incontinence care for 24!
- $30 provides diapers for 6!
- $150 covers birthday bags!
- $500 covers ministry center lease!
These are just a few examples of how your generous donations are put to work directly supporting the families we serve.
Volunteer Spotlight: Gabrielle & Jackie
Meet Gabrielle Griffin Williams! For the past 9 years, Gabrielle and her husband, Jackie, have been faithfully serving our community.
Gabrielle’s introduction to I58 came through an outreach opportunity with their church, Covenant Church. . As Gabrielle shares, “We soon realized that through the act of blessing families in need with our time and labor, we walked away each month feeling like we had received an even greater blessing of having been a part of God’s work.”
Currently, Gabrielle plays a vital role as the group leader for the I58 small group at Covenant Church. On service days, you can find her pitching in with food preparation in the morning and warmly welcoming families as they arrive in the afternoon. “I love the opportunity to welcome the families in personally, and interact with them, their children, and sometimes pets too!” she says.
Looking to the future, Gabrielle hopes to leverage her professional background in non-profit fundraising and data analytics to further support I58’s mission. What an incredible asset!
Gabrielle’s heartfelt encouragement for others to get involved is simple yet powerful: “I think most people find that through the act of serving, they receive a tremendous blessing themselves. Also, it is awe- inspiring to see the fellowship of multiple churches coming together to serve those in need. You will find a lot of ministry and fellowship in Christ on the first Saturday of the month!”
Thank you, Gabrielle, for your incredible dedication, your warm spirit, and the countless ways you bless our community through I58 Ministries! You and Jackie are truly making a difference.
May Distribution Statistics
Praise the Lord for the impact made in May! Here are the numbers for the month:
- Total pounds of food given out: 33,717 pounds
- Families served: 402
- Individuals served: 1856
- Total volunteers: 79
- Different groups (churches/organizations) 8
These numbers reflect the dedication of our volunteers, the generosity of our donors, and the trust of the community we serve.
We are excited to see God blessing our ministry with many wonderful volunteers who help us share the love of Christ with our community! The Dallas area has the highest percentage of food insecurity. This allows us to meet this need while sharing Jesus’s eternal hope: “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty,” John 6:35.
Thank you for all you do for the Lord and these families.
Together, we can be the hands and feet of Jesus to those in need. Thank you for being so supportive!
